I’ve never been to New Orleans, which really needs to change soon. The magic of food though is that I got to feel like I was there in the heart of Downtown Disneyland. Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen Express is fully decorated inside and out in the spirit of the French quarter. It’s a super convenient quick counter service located right next to the more high end sit down restaurant version. They serve all of the great NOLA classics like gumbo, jambalaya and my personal favorite, beignets.
Let me tell you, these beignets were nothing short of outstanding. The dough was so soft, warm and fresh tasting. They weren’t greasy at all. The people at the Jazz Kitchen Express serve them in a bag so that you can shake it well. That lets the mountain of powdered sugar coat the warm beignets! I would advise not wearing black when you eat these babies. I learned that the hard way.Jazz Kitchen Express is a fantastic place to have breakfast before a day in the parks. It is ideally situated right by the monorail station in Downtown Disney, which drops you off right in Disneyland Park without as much of a line. This sandwich with slightly spicy sausage, fluffy scrambled eggs and cheese was the perfect sustenance before a full day of fun! There are also breakfast burritos, breakfast platters, you name it.Did I mention that there are beignets? There are beignets. Ha! I’m a little obsessed. Dipping them in their chicory coffee was the ultimate indulgence after the breakfast sandwich. So if you are in Disneyland and need a delicious place to eat, Jazz Kitchen Express is perfect. Whether you are there for breakfast, lunch or dinner the food is so top notch. I love that it is not the traditional amusement park food. What sets it apart too is the convenience. It lets you get in and out quickly to get to the parks. It brings all of the flavor and fun of NOLA to the happiest place on earth!
