So big surprise, the holidays were pretty darn decadent. My brother-in-law and sister whipped up a whole feast of delicious foods and we also went out for yummy things while we were there. I loved every bite but I needed a detox when I got home. However, I still had my chocolate cravings. I don’t think there will ever be a time when I don’t crave chocolate. So I decided to come up with a much healthier version of my usual brownies with a batch of healthy date brownies. The dates and honey were a great replacement for refined sugar and the almond flour made them gluten free!
That was all there was to this decadent but still healthy treat! I loved that I felt like it was such an indulgence but did not have to really feel guilty about it at all. It was still in line with my healthier resolutions. Hope you all love them too! xoxo
These healthy date brownies have such fantastic and decadent flavor and texture. They are so perfect for indulging without guilt!
- coconut cooking spray for the baking pan
- 1 cup pitted dates
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup melted coconut oil
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 whole eggs
-
Pre-heat the oven to 350 and spray an 8 x 8 dish with cooking spray. Get out a food processor and combine all of the ingredients except the eggs in its bowl. Run the processor until it is smooth. Then add in the eggs and pulse it a few more times to incorporate them in. Scoop the batter into the pan and smooth it out to be even. Bake the tray for about 25 minutes, until a toothpick comes out of the center cleanly. Let the brownies cool completely, then cut into the desired sized squares. Serve immediately, or store sealed in the refrigerator to enjoy as you need them!!
These brownies look so chocolatey and delicious!
