Easy Dishes to Enjoy in the Summer

As Summer approaches, cooking becomes something of a chore in the heat. Of course, you need to eat, and while you might enjoy cooking, the heat makes it difficult to enjoy eating or cooking certain dishes, and you’ll want to spend less time in the kitchen, and make things a little lighter than usual. For example, few people dislike Lasagne, but it’s a very heavy dish, and not usually one you’d enjoy having to place in a hot oven. So here are a couple of suggestions that may help you in your decision, that are either lighter to eat, quick and easy or simply require a lot less effort from yourself to prepare and save you a bit of stove time.

Possibilities are Endless With Salad

Salad doesn’t have to be boring. In fact, it’s actually one of the more versatile compliments you can have on a dish. Salad can be a side or a main, depending on how you decide to build it, and can have as little or as many ingredients as you like, and feel free to mix up the food groups a bit to accompany it. You can add almost any type of meat, spice it up a bit,  bolster up its general ‘fullness’ with carbohydrates, such as potatoes or pasta, add various sources of protein such as eggs or beans if you’re not keen on meat, or add them alongside meat if you so wish, or add different cheeses. Feel free to add ALL of them if you feel adventurous enough. The point is, a good salad is interpretive, much like a charcuterie board. Which is another great idea, as you can be as artistic and minimalist as you prefer, and can make an entire salad based charcuterie if cured meats aren’t your thing, and making a decorative board will never be boring at all.

Rice Dishes are Nice Dishes

Whilst making a rice disk can seem like a daunting task as it requires you usually to keep your eyes on it, it’s also a pretty easy thing to make, and much like the above entry, can be very interpretive. You can add as little or as much as you’d like, depending on the kind of rice dish you’d like to make, and due to its carb value, will almost always be fulfilling no matter what you accompany it with. From something as simple as egg fried rice, to something with a bit more flavour, like paella, or risotto, there are plenty of ways to still make it relatively easy. For example, if you wanted a risotto, but were unsure on how to go about making your own broth, you could purchase some that catered to whatever you wanted to add to your risotto, maybe a good time to discover bone broth combo pack so you can find the flavour you’re looking for, and both would be good for either risotto OR Paella.
