Smokey Maple Glazed Pork Chops

Pork is definitely the go to protein in this house when we get tired of chicken. I think that comes from it being the same in my house growing up. Both my mom and grandma made pork chops often and I loved it. So this week I came up with juicy and amazing smokey maple glazed pork chops. They were inspired by the glorious smoked maple syrup that my sister-in-law brought back for us from Vermont. I also used it in my twice baked sweet potatoes, so maple syrup was the theme of the week. Anyway, the pork chops were so simple to make!

Dredging the smokey maple glazed pork chops through seasoned flour gave them amazing flavor and texture! I used garlic powder, smoked paprika and hickory smoked sea salt to really bring that smokiness to the forefront.
That flour coating crisped up gorgeously when I pan fried the smokey maple glazed pork chops. It also made that seasoning more fragrant! The pork chops cooked for about 4-5 minutes on each side to become brown and cooked through.
While the pork chops cooked, I quickly prepared the easy maple glaze. I gently simmered that gorgeous smoked maple syrup, Worcestershire sauce and a little salt together. It thickened just enough after 5 minutes. Then I let it cool to thicken some more.

I dipped the cooked pork chops into the glaze to coat them. The coating was there, but it was thin enough to prevent the pork chops from being too sweet. For extra flavor and a little green, I sprinkled sliced scallions on top. They provided that mild onion flavor that the dish needed. I was one happy girl when I bit in! The smokey sweet combination just exploded in my mouth. The pork chops were so juicy too. Hope you all enjoy this simple dish as much as we did! xoxo

Ingredients
  • canola oil as needed for pan frying
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon hickory smoked sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 4 whole boneless center cut pork chops
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup preferably smoked maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 dash worcestershire sauce
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 whole scallions thinly sliced for garnish
Instructions
  1. Get a large skillet with deep sides on the stove and fill it with about an inch or two of canola oil. Heat it up over medium high heat. While the oil gets hot whisk the flour, salt, paprika and garlic powder together in a large bowl. Coat the pork chops in the flour mixture and get them into the hot oil. Let the pork chops pan fry for 4-5 minutes on each side to brown and cook through completely.
  2. While the pork chops cook combine the maple syrup, honey, Worcestershire and salt together in a medium sauce pan. Heat the mixture up over medium high heat until it comes to a gentle boil. Reduce it to a low simmer and let the sauce cook for 5 minutes or so. It should thicken. Take it off of the heat and let it cool, which will let it thicken some more. Dip the cooked pork chops in the glaze and serve them immediately! Enjoy!

  1. We are pork and chicken people here in my household.
The stores have been having some great sales lately and boy have I been stocking up!
I am definitely going to try this recipe out, mainly because of the maple syrup.
You just can’t go wrong with maple syrup. 🙂
I am going on the hunt for the hickory smoked sea salt.
I don’t think I’ve seen that here, wish me luck!
Also, thank you your Polish Kiffles recipe.
I know them as kolaches, apricot and strawberry being my favorite!
