Healthy Date Brownies

So big surprise, the holidays were pretty darn decadent. My brother-in-law and sister whipped up a whole feast of delicious foods and we also went out for yummy things while we were there. I loved every bite but I needed a detox when I got home. However, I still had my chocolate cravings. I don’t think there will ever be a time when I don’t crave chocolate. So I decided to come up with a much healthier version of my usual brownies with a batch of healthy date brownies. The dates and honey were a great replacement for refined sugar and the almond flour made them gluten free!

The batter for these healthy date brownies came together really easily in my food processor. I just pulsed it all together until it was smooth and shiny. It only took a minute or two!
Since I used coconut oil in the batter, I also used coconut cooking spray to grease my 8 x 8 pan. Paired with the almond flour and almond extract, there was this lovely coconut almond thing going on that I loved. It enhanced the dates and chocolate.
After about 25 minutes in the oven, the healthy date brownies were perfectly baked through but still moist. I let them cool completely before I cut them into 9 good sized squares.

That was all there was to this decadent but still healthy treat! I loved that I felt like it was such an indulgence but did not have to really feel guilty about it at all. It was still in line with my healthier resolutions. Hope you all love them too! xoxo

  1. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the words “healthy” and “brownie” in the same sentence. I’ll definitely have to try this one.
