Cold Brew Coffee with Cold Foam

Until I’ve had my morning coffee, I am a disaster. Forming sentences, thinking and general functioning are way too hard. That morning jolt is essential to get me going for the day, let me tell you. In the hot weather I lived for iced coffees until I discovered something even better. Cold brew coffee has become my new obsession. It tastes better to me because rather than just putting regular drip brewed coffee over ice, this stuff brews slowly in the refrigerator for a much smoother, less acidic taste. I first tried it at that big ol’ coffee chain that we all know but I can’t spend $6 every time I need my fix. So I started making my own at home! I found a cold brew pitcher for cheap on amazon and I love how simple it is. You can get yours here to make yours too! Best of all, if you purchase through that affiliate link I make a small profit to help keep the blog going.

Like I said, the pitcher is incredibly simple to use. I just scoop 16 tablespoons, or one cup, of my favorite ground coffee into the filter and close the lid. Then I simply fill the pitcher with a quart of cold, filtered water before I seal it with the filter and lid. It just sits for 12 hours or so in the refrigerator and it is ready in the morning. I usually make it after dinner. Since it also makes a quart and it is really strong, Marc and I make this last for two mornings. I just take out the filter and clean it once it is done brewing overnight and it stays sealed in the pitcher.
The brewing starts right away once I put it together, which I love. The color of the water changes instantly. By the morning, it is a deep black, which is how good coffee should be. Every so often, I take the filter out and give it a couple of swirls in the pitcher just to stir everything and make sure it is brewing well.
In the morning, I just quickly whipped up the cold foam. I thought it would require special coffee equipment and be hard, but I found out it could not have been easier. I simply combined low fat milk (higher fat milk is harder to whip into a foam), a little vanilla, sea salt and cinnamon in my blender. It took about 45 seconds to a minute of letting it run to have a gorgeous foam!

I simply poured the coffee into glasses and poured a quarter of the foam over each glass. Some blended in and some made a lovely layer on top of the coffee. Oh man, no need to go to a coffee shop for a good cold brew my friends! These are so delicious with the smooth, refreshing coffee and luscious foam on top. Hope you all love them! Stay caffeinated!! xoxo

  1. I’m a mess before my coffee too! Okay, so it’s like you read my mind, Leigh. Last week I bought a 4 pack of cold coffee and I thought to myself that I needed to figure out how to make it. Then boom! Here’s your recipe, lol! I can’t wait to try it!

  2. Love a good ice coffee totally need to try this recipe but with almond milk!

  3. This is very interesting. I’m learning to drink coffee with no sugar and it’s hard for me. This might even be better for me to drink without sugar. I’ll give it a try.
