California Grill Brunch

I’m back, friends! Marc had a conference in Orlando this past week so we also added in some Disney fun while we were there. I love all of the magic and attractions but at this point in my life my favorite part of Disney is absolutely the food. There are so many incredible places to eat that I don’t know if we will ever get to try them all. The highlight of our trip this time was definitely California Grill brunch, located at the very top of the Contemporary Hotel. It was not a meal, it was an experience. When you walk in, you are greeted with mimosas, which are bottomless by the way. There are live musicians playing and they really play everything. I squealed a little when they broke into Africa by Toto, because honestly I will never, ever get tired of that song. The floor to ceiling windows offer the most spectacular views over the lagoon and Magic Kingdom.

After all of that gorgeous ambiance, it was time to eat. Oh my did we eat. This is basically an all you care to eat meal where you can sample from several stations of charcuterie, sushi, breads, fruits, yogurts and anything you can think of. Then the server brings you any of the menu entrees you want. My first round from the stations comprised of sausage with onion jam, cheddar biscuit, parmesan bread stick, guava turnover, shrimp tempura roll and California roll. The sushi was a huge standout, California Grill is known for it.
Marc and I had a strategy for trying as many entrees as possible. We would split each one we wanted to try! The lobster eggs benedict here were my absolute favorite. The lobster was so fresh and tender with that runny yolk and yummy hollandaise.
The second one we tried was the chicken and waffles. It was odd looking but SO good!! The waffles were fluffy and the chicken spectacular. It had orange syrup and sausage gravy on top for that fantastic savory and sweet combo.
The final entree we split was the shakshuka. It had eggs and lamb meatballs in the most flavorful tomato sauce. There were fresh, warm pitas on the side to mop up all of that goodness and we loved every bite.

During all of that eating we did take a break and go out on the deck to take in the views. It was not too hot out yet and really gorgeous to see. All in all, I will boldly say that the whole experience was the best meal of my life. The service, ambiance and food were all next level. It was the perfect way to kick off our trip and celebrate our anniversary a month early. It is only available on Sundays, so when you are ready to make your reservations for your next trip, make this one first. I also highly recommend doing it 180 days in advance, the earliest you can book dining for your trip. It seems insane to plan brunch 6 months in advance but this one is worth it. Let me know your thoughts in the comments! xoxo
